Why You Need to Act Now to Start Your Solar Project
By law, DTE must allow 1% of their peak load to be supplied from solar and other power systems owned by their customers. The 1% is broken down to .5% from residential, .25% commercial, and .25% from methane digesters. DTE is a couple of months away from hitting the .5% cap for residential solar, several months away from hitting the .25% commercial cap, and about four years away from hitting the cap on methane digesters. Projects started before the cap is reached will get connected. After the cap is reached there is no process in place to allow new interconnections. Other utility companies have similar caps.
