What solar panels are on the market?

Different types of solar panels

When it comes to installing solar, it’s important to choose the best solar inverter for your project as we mentioned in our recent blog. It’s also important to select solar panels that best fit your needs. Most people, however, don’t know the differences between each and their benefits.

What are the different types of solar panels?

At the most basic level, panels are differentiated between thin film and crystalline.  Crystalline can be further divided into mono and polycrystalline. Since Crystalline are much more efficient and account for 95%+ of residential installs we will concentrate on them.

Mono Crystalline Solar Panels

These panels have been the industry standard for the longest amount of time and are the most common. Mono (meaning one) crystalline panels are manufactured from one silicon batch, producing the same crystal structures in the panel. This allows electrons to flow more easily and produces the most electricity compared to poly crystalline. Many of these panels come in black on black design for increased efficiency and added curb appeal.

Poly Crystalline Solar Panels

Polycrystalline panels (meaning many) have a blue hue that may be familiar.  They are produced from the silicon of many batches that is then compressed to one wafer, making it more difficult for light to pass through. Therefore, these polycrystalline panels are less efficient but are provided at a lower price point.

At Michigan Solar Solutions, we only offer the highest efficiency monocrystalline panels! With that being said, there are still a few high-quality panels to choose from that vary on price and availability.

Jinko

MSS has been installing Jinko solar panels for years. Jinko is the largest manufacturers of solar panels in the world and they offer high performance panels that do great in low-light conditions. They opened a factory in Jackson Florida that employees about 400 Americans.  These panels are also all black and blend in well with many roofs. By the end of March 2021 Jinko will offer a new panel that does away with all the grid lines. These panels are very estetically appealing and are one of the best looking and best performing solar panels on the market!

LG

Many recognize LG as an all encompassing electronics company and they are also a key player in solar panel manufacturing.

If you’re looking to go solar, whether for your home or business, know that MSS will provide you with the most efficient solar panels for your project. You will be able to choose the best panel for you, considering efficiency, cost and other factors. Learn more about our panels.
